Ho Chi Minh was born in 1890 and is the leader credited as the force behind Vietnam's struggle for independence. He was influcented by socialist ideologies and founded communist organizations in Paris, Moscow, and China. He became the president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1955 and led the country in wars against the French and the United States. Ho Chi Minh means "Bringer of Enlightenment."
