Tunnels

The Vietnamese have used tunnel complexes for years. These tunnels are built at many levels and include living spaces, kitches and clinics. Here, the Vietnamese could escape bombings and hide from enemies. The tunnels played a key part in the Vietnamese/American war. The American soldiers knew the tunnels existed, however even with infrared technology and sniffer dogs, they never really succeeded in finding them.

Hills made to look like they were made by ants were used to disguise breathing holes.

Boobie-traps were set up around the tunnel systems so that when soldiers were trying to find them they would fall into holes where spikes would impale them, or trip wires would release spike-laden instruments that would fall from the trees and impale them.

Once you see what these tunnels were really like, it's hard to believe people lived in them, let alone fought inside them!
